Lee Carter, who will be 82 on October 27, gave up a career in the Negro Professional Baseball League and a possible Major League career to raise his family. He did not start painting until he was nearly 60 years old, yet his African-American History Paintings will touch generations to come. The Lee Carter Art Museum opens at 925 West Main Street in Coatesville on October 19, 2002
