Sunday September 21, 2PM - Writing Seminar


Larry Atkins, a lawyer, freelance writer, and member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA) will discuss "The ASJA Guide to Freelance Writing," a new book that provides tips from experienced professional freelancers on nonfiction writing. Larry has written a chapter on Op-Eds and personal essays for the book, which was published in September by St. Martin's Press. Details on the book are available on ASJA's website at www.asja.org.

Larry will also give a seminar on Op-Ed and personal essay writing. He has written over 170 Op-Eds, articles, and essays for many publications, including the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Baltimore Sun, B'nai B'rith Jewish Monthly, Chicago Tribune, Christian Science Monitor, Cleveland Plain Dealer, Dallas Morning News, Detroit News, Indianapolis Star, Jewish Exponent, Kansas City Star, Los Angeles Daily News, National Public Radio (Commentaries for the national versions of Morning Edition and Only a Game), Newsday, Orange County Register, Philadelphia City Paper, Philadelphia Daily News, Philadelphia Inquirer (44 Op-Eds since 1993) and Inquirer Sunday Magazine, Practical Lawyer Magazine, and San Francisco Chronicle. He is also a board member and publicity director for the Philadelphia Writers' Conference.
